New-Year, bye bye dizziness

(translated from Chinese)

At the beginning of the New Year, everyone was still immersed in the joy of welcoming the New Year, but along with me were the sky and earth spinning around, there was almost no way to freely change from a long sleep position to a normal sitting position, and no way to smoothly lie down from a sitting position, as long as the switch in sitting and lying, followed by infinite internal fear and uncontrollable dizziness, need to grab the edge of the bed or a solid object to maintain balance.
Sometimes, I don’t even dare to eat too much or be in an environment with poor air circulation, and the slightest change of environment makes me feel overwhelmed.

Because I was afraid to go to the hospital for examination before the New Year, I put it off again and again.

In order to ease my mind and body, I mindlessly started to follow the [How to Sit Comfortably] series of lessons updated by Pascal on Kaikibu oline learning platform to practice.

The first time I followed the first lesson halfway through the practice, because there were movements from lying down to sitting and standing to quadrupedal position, I needed to stop for a few minutes to continue the practice, some discomfort, so I gave up.

On the second day, I started from the beginning again, practicing while dizzy, and finally lasted for an hour. Although the dizziness was not too obviously relieved, my body was much more relaxed.

On the third day, I started half of the second lesson, and learned how to support the spine through the sit bones during the exercises.

After three consecutive days of practice, the dizziness gradually improved.

On the fourth day, I practiced the second half of the second lesson, and on the fifth day, I practiced the third lesson… Something miraculous happened, as I kept practicing every day, without going to the hospital for examination, the dizziness disappeared unconsciously, and my body was much more relaxed, with my shoulders open and sitting straight. Later I talked to Pascal with my questions, and he said that the vestibular system is in charge of the balance of the body, and that sometimes a disturbance in the vestibular system can be a cause of dizziness, and that the movements we practice in the Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movemnt class that are different from our usual habits can help with dizziness. Many times I couldn’t believe that Feldenkrais Awareness was the right thing to do, but it did happen and helped me with my physical and mental worries.
