—— Self-Attunement and Massage Therapy
Within the landscape of holistic healthcare, “therapy” is a term frequently used but rarely defined with precision. In my approach to touch, therapy is not a passive event; it is a process where experience, integration, and awareness are paramount.
It is about reconnecting fragments of experience—somatic, emotional, and cognitive—to restore a state of wholeness.
A high-quality practice must exist at the intersection of these three dimensions, with the practitioner serving as the medium for transformation rather than a mere technician.
The Multidimensional Nature of Integration
Integration is a multi-layered dialogue. It requires the practitioner to facilitate a reorganisation of the Self by navigating three fundamental dimensions:
1. Somatic Integration: Fluidity and Structural Security
This dimension is nourished by the physical experience of touch. Within Integratis™ Massage, we work both on the surface of soft tissues and deep within the muscles and organs. Long, fluid transitional strokes promote the re-harmonisation of the fascia, while static pauses create a mental space conducive to deep release and introspection.
The cornerstone of my practice lies in the mobilisation of the skeletal system—the body’s most solid and supportive structure. By combining classic touch pressures with harmoniously coordinated skeletal movements, I open the door for the nervous system to adapt to an environment of safety, providing a profound sense of security to my client. This dynamic allows soft tissues to release far more effectively than through isolated pressure alone, as the body recognises its own structural integrity. Moving from “working on the body” to “working with the body” transforms the session into an experience of lightness and fulfilment that many of my clients simply call joy.
2. “Mature Touch” and Emotional Integration
This dimension relies heavily on the internal qualities of the practitioner and the concept of Mature Touch. Unlike a touch that is too gentle (reminiscent of an asymmetrical parental relationship) or a contact that is ambiguous (sexually connoted), Mature Touch is anchored in relational and psychological neutrality.
This peer-to-peer approach fosters emotional emancipation, self-confidence, and a heightened sense of self-esteem. It also dispels misunderstandings regarding “energy exchange”: for a practitioner anchored in this maturity, there is no absorption of negative emotions, but rather a clarity that creates a secure container. They then become a stable channel, facilitating the client’s process without becoming lost within it.
3. Cognitive Integration: The Power of Awareness
Healing remains incomplete if it stays purely physical or exists as a simple emotional expression. Cognitive integration through awareness is indispensable to the global process. During or after a session, “Eureka” moments often emerge; these realisations must be processed cognitively to achieve lasting integration for comfort and well-being.
At the heart of my practice also lies Self-Attunement. It is this continuous quest that helps us tune our physical sensations with our feelings, our thoughts with our emotions, and our words with our actions.
“Inner Alignment is a quest for self-honesty, a profound harmonisation of the Self.”
By facilitating this process, the practitioner serves as a lighthouse, helping the client move from a state of fragmentation towards a state of harmony. We move from the practitioner’s self-attunement toward the self-healing and balance of the receiver’s Self.
The Practitioner’s Journey: Towards a Transformation of the Self
Beyond technical mastery, the Integratis™ Massage method is a path of evolution. The practitioner learns that they are their own instrument. Their clarity and maturity are the true vectors of the healing message.
By cultivating one’s own Self-Attunement, one becomes a stable anchor capable of facilitating profound change in others. Joining our training is a commitment to a lifelong practice of self-attunement, where one learns not only how to treat, but how to harmonise, in order to offer a space for the return to the Self—the very foundation of true therapy.
