An In-Depth Workshop
Align · Strengthen · Thrive
Stop begging your knees. Start supporting them.
Our knees are among the largest joints in the body, yet they have primarily one degree of freedom: flexion and extension. This gives them strength and stability—but also means that what doesn’t move, adapt, or “turn” well above or below the knee can create additional stress.
The knee doesn’t work alone.
Our feet, knees, pelvis, and spine continuously interact to distribute forces, maintain balance, and create fluidity in movement. When this organization becomes less efficient, the knee may end up compensating for what isn’t happening elsewhere.
So instead of asking only:
“What’s wrong with my knee?”
we can ask:
“How is my whole body organizing itself around my knee?”
This is where a richer process of learning and research begins.
Triangle: Foot · Knee · Pelvis
In this workshop, we look closely at the relationship between these three areas through Feldenkrais-inspired movement, Functional Integration® hands-on work, and strengthening.
The foot connects us to the ground.
The pelvis connects the legs to the rest of the body.
The knee provides stability and transmits forces between them.
We investigate how these relationships influence the way we stand, walk, bend, turn, and bear weight.
Rather than trying to “fix” the knee, we learn how to give it more support, integrate it into our whole organization, and reduce unnecessary work.
The aim is not simply greater mobility or strength, but a more intelligent relationship between mobility, stability, and coordination.
Course Content
Awareness Through Movement provides the first layer: sensing relationships, recognizing our neuro-somatic patterns, re-aligning, and discovering new alternatives.
We then bring these discoveries into more dynamic and functional work, including:
- Foot, knee, and pelvic coordination
- Weight-bearing and distribution of forces
- Functional movement and strengthening
- Identifying and changing habitual patterns
- Massage and practical self-care
- Integrating new possibilities into everyday movement
The emphasis is not on adding more effort, but on discovering where effort is necessary, where it is not, and how the whole system can participate more efficiently.
